Visionary and Bold: Frank Lingo is a singular Quirkmaster

Reviewed by Sasha P. Carter, 2004-01-03

Frank Lingo has proved to be a singular force in the world of modern fantasy realism. Lingo's command of the English Language shows itself time and time again through his frequent punning and aliteration. His characters and their struggles are diverse, yet they are united by the collective unhappiness which our world has yet to solve. Amost intriguing element of this strugle includes a man named Dank Van Rank: the Black Sheep who is suddenly forced to confront his family's ruinous heritage. Not since Jesus Christ has a charatcer elicited so much curiosity. I only hope Frank Lingo writes a sequel in which Dank Van Rank is more central.
Beyond Dank Van Rank, Frank Lingo goes interdiciplinary , touching on the the environment, religion, global politics, economics, science fiction, and the truth about Madonna in his concise creation. In addition his story provides a framework for global peace, and what could be better than that? "Earth Vote" is controversial enough to challenge the wisest scholars yet accessible to the youngest rabble rouser. If you like Lem Sportsinterviews, you'll love Frank Lingo's "Earth Vote".

Tickles the mind, freshly

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like intelligent, non-formulaic writing, and this hits the mark. Lingo is brilliant at wordplay, and is an astute viewer of the way the world is today and what it needs. It is respectful of the reader, & irreverent toward the "because that's the way it is" crowd. Editorial, yet a novel. It ultimately gave me a clearer view of society because it's so realistic, even though it's fantasy.
